PIENINY – DUNAJEC RAFTING & HIKING TRAILS
One of the absolute must-see attractions in the region is the Dunajec River rafting (April to end of October), one of the most popular tourist attractions in Poland. The start point is in Sromowce Niżne (parking available; return transfer after the trip). The rafting takes approx. 2 hours. Besides traditional rafts, there are also options for inflatable rafts or kayaks (starting slightly lower downstream – just after the Sromowce sign, first right turn). We recommend FunTime company.
Key hiking trails in the Pieniny Mountains:
BRAMA W GORCE (Gorce Canopy Walk) – a treetop walkway located near Kowańiec and Waksmund village. It can be reached on foot from Kowańiec (Nowy Targ parking). The wooden structure runs through the forest canopy of the Gorce National Park buffer zone. Educational and viewing platforms are located along the route.
SKYWALK PORONIN – a glass-floored observation deck suspended above the ground with breathtaking views of the Tatra panorama. A perfect place for those seeking scenic views and a bit of adrenaline – the feeling of “walking in the clouds” guaranteed.
SZCZAWNICA – a spa and tourist town worth visiting. Walk through the spa park, taste mineral waters, then take the chairlift to Palenica (722 m a.s.l.) and enjoy the gravity slide.
From Szczawnica, it is worth visiting JAWORKI and hiking to WYSOKA (Wysokie Skałki) – the highest peak of the Pieniny (1050 m a.s.l.). On the way down, you can use the chairlift in Homole Arena.
